Society of Urban Perambulators: NuLu
November 16, 2024
10:45 am (meet up at Tempo Hotel, 710 E Jefferson St)
11:00 am (walking tour will begin)
The next Society of Urban Perambulators (SoUP) event will explore NULU. With all of the development activity and streetscape work happening, there will be a lot to see and hear about.
We are planning on starting at the new Tempo Hotel on Jefferson Street. By the way, if you haven’t been to Jefferson Street in the last few weeks, it is unbelievable how much the two-way conversion has changed the perception of the street from an automobile gutter to a much more walkable and connected part of the area. Thanks to Metro for making that happen.
Speaking of Metro, we will have folks from Public Works on hand to talk about the Market Streetscape Project that is currently underway.
We will also hear from the Louisville Downtown Partnership about the new underpass lighting on Main Street.
As we wind through NULU, we will hear from a number of folks that are developing new projects in NULU including Zyyo, Weyland Ventures, WORK Architecture + Design, Joseph & Joseph, Angel’s Envy, and more. Here are just a few places we will see.
We are planning on wrapping up the tour at Against the Grain, just a few short blocks from our starting point.
As always, these events are dog and kid friendly, though if we tour any buildings you may need to keep the dogs outside.
The events are free and open to the public, but we ask that you RSVP with our Director, Patrick Piuma (patrick.piuma@louisville.edu), so we know how many people to expect and who to contact if event details change.
The Society of Urban Perambulators is a program by the UofL Urban Design Studio. There is a SoUP Facebook Group if you are interested in joining.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again for another great opportunity to explore a vibrant part of our community!
