Friday, October 16th
11:00 am - 3:00 pm
500 Block of West Jefferson Street

To help envision a greener, healthier downtown, the University of Louisville’s Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute and our partners are transforming a block in downtown Louisville into a “Moving Forest” in the hours leading up to the opening of the PickleY’all Festival on Friday, October 16. On the street in front of Metro Hall, hundreds of volunteers will move 70 large trees and hundreds of plants in choreographed sequences from 11 am to 3 pm on Friday.

The Moving Forest is part of Greenprint, a broader effort to explore how investments in urban greening can contribute to healthier neighborhoods and a stronger Louisville. Conceived of and planned by the Urban Design Studio’s Patrick Piuma, the project melds tactical urbanism with a live public performance, inviting people to experience what it would be like to have Louisville’s downtown filled with tree-lined streets, pedestrian allées and planted medians.

We hope you’ll be able to stop by.
