Much of the work that started the week of 4/7 continued last week. Crews from Full Care delivered and planted many more shrubs and trees. At this point, the vast majority of 242 shrubs and 113 trees that are going in the ground are planted. The west side of Founders Square has been functioning as a construction entrance, but that has now been removed, so more plants will be going in that area this week. Some trees also still need to go in the central forest area, which has been hydroseeded with grass that should start growing out this week.
In addition to the plant work, the removal of the construction entrance allowed work to continue on the path edging. The path should be finalized in the next couple days, with a layer of bonded crushed stone being installed atop the current base layer. Completion of the path will allow for the fence to come down, meaning the park should be accessible to the public this week.
While the park will be accessible before-hand, the Envirome Institute and Urban Design Studio will be hosting a public opening in May. Stay tuned for more information, we should have more about this event up on our site soon.
