As part of the efforts to create a cohesive medical medical and educational district, Chestnut Street is going through significant changes to make it more green and pedestrian friendly. Chestnut will be converted to a two-way street and the streetscape will change as curb extensions, landscape buffers, street trees, and raised crosswalks are added. The new streetscape will serve important new developments such as LOUMED Commons, a new park space, and the University of Louisville’s planned Health Sciences Simulation Center and Collaboration Hub.
